Saltholme Gas Powered Power Station
ABOUT THE PROJECT
We were awarded the enabling works for a gas-powered power station at Saltholm next to an RSPB site. The site itself brought about a number of challenges. It was a known site for archaeology, so the full strip was witnessed by archaeologists. There were also three sets of overhead high voltage power lines and three high pressure underground gas mains on the site. Our works consited of:
Setting up goal posts and complying with GS-6.
Providing temporary protection for the gas mains.
Fencing off the full site.
Strip 3,700m3 of topsoil and bund on site.
Excavate 16,000m3 and bund on site.
Import 31,000 tonne of stone.
Cast 3 no reinforced protection slabs.
Design and install bespoke culvert and headwalls.
Excavate ponds and drainage ditch.
Form new entrance and tie in to the A1185.
