"During my time at Northern Counties Safety Group it is evident that Addison Plant regard safety as being equally important as quality and production.
At the core of their safety culture is an active involvement from the directors and senior management, which recognises that people are Addison Plants greatest asset.
It is positive and encouraging to see that the motivation to continually improve their safety culture is helping drive down accidents in our industry, with this years figures being at an all time low.
Even in these tough times for construction, Addison Plant have implemented a successful health and safety management system that should be seen as a benchmark to other civil engineering organisations.
With the company’s continual improvement and commitment to safety, it is my belief that Addison Plant are on the right track."

PROJECT SUMMARY This scheme was to construct two new linked signal-controlled junctions to take the place of a roundabout in order to improve traffic flow through the junction. It also covered the realignment of Riverside Road in order to straighten out its connection with 1825 Way. Our work included: An 8 week program of night shifts to install all road crossings for drainage and ducts. We carried out a topographical survey and outlined the earthworks strategy to eliminate disposal of arisings off site. This involved excavating 6000m3 of class U1A and the reuse of it as class 1/2 acceptable material as fill in road embankments. There was also 1000m3 of excavated material which required disposal off site. We imported 5000m2 of 6F5 and sub base for roads and footpaths which was all trimmed to tolerances ready to receive tarmac. We installed 700m of drainage up to 4m deep including connections to Northumbrian water sewers to adoptable standard. To service the new road layout we also had to lay 2000m of traffic signal and road lighting ducts.
