PROJECT STATS
Balfour Beatty Construction Value: £575,000 Start date: September 2013 Contract length: 10 months
PROJECT SUMMARY This scheme was to cover the construction of two new park and ride facilities and associated highway works at Askham and Poppleton Bar. Askham Bar site was a former landfill tip. We carried out all drainage works which included laying pipes up to 750mm with petrol interceptors & flow control manholes. Part of our work included a random stone headwall next to the East Coast Main Line requiring a safe system of work which had to be approved by Network Rail. Poppleton Bar site was constructed on agricultural land but due to the high water table and sandy ground specialist excavation methods had to be used. The existing A59/A1237 roundabout was reconstructed with a new underpass. For the underpass we had to construct a 6m deep pumping station and an 80m long pipe jack under the busy A59 with a 400mm diameter pipe.

TESTIMONIAL
"I have worked with Addison Plant Ltd on and off for 20 years and recently completed a public realm scheme in regenerating Stockton High St. This was a two year project upgrading the bus routes and hard landscaping.
I was very impressed with APL’s attitude regarding safety and their consideration to the public as this is a busy High St with events been held throughout the year. The safe digging practices employed resulted in zero service strikes which is highly commendable due to the complex network of services and underground tanks/cellars encountered.
The works consisted of drainage, ducting, earthworks and street furniture with the value of circa £3m and a large number of site operatives at any one time."
